Today, let’s talk about Communicating with your team! We communicate all day, whether it’s with our spouse, our children, our friends, or our team. And the better we can communicate, the more successful relationships we’ll be able to have, and the more successful business we’ll have.
Zig Ziglar said, “You can have everything in life you want, if you will just help enough other people get what they want.”
I have really taken that to heart, and I realized that when I am of service to other people, the bigger benefit is to me. And all areas of my life are so much better when I’m communicating at a better level
We’ll talk about Tony Allessandro’s philosophy, which is that we use the platinum rule, which is Treat Others the Way they WANT to be treated. Tony is a great communication expert, and is also the author of People Smart. He describes the Platinum Rule as accommodating the feelings of others. The focus of relationships shifts from “this is what I want, so I’ll give everyone the same thing” to “let me first understand what they want and then I’ll give it to them.”
We’ll talk a about the different ways we communicate with customers and team members, and even a little about others in our lives.
We’ll talk about listening, and what it really means to listen effectively.
We’ll talk about affirming and encouraging the person we’re talking with and how that can sometimes be more important than teaching them.
We’ll talk about the different communication, learning and even personality styles and how to communicate effectively with each style.
We’ll talk about Love Languages as defined by Gary Chapman, and how that can help you with your communication.
And then we’ll spend a little time on other communication methods such as email, texting, and sending cards. Greeting cards and postcards can be a very effective way to really make an impact with the person you’re communicating with.
And lastly, we’ll talk about how to communicate with groups of people and how to work to keep everyone involved in the conversation.
