Today I want to talk about using Networking Groups to grow your business. Networking Groups are a great way to meet new people and expand your warm market.
In fact, Networking Groups are an effective way to meet professional people. They give you a way to physically get in front of quality people to build rapport, and initiate relationships.
Networking groups are great for this because they are filled with business people and entrepreneurs. If you find one of these groups and they let you into their circle, you get the chance to start new friendships. From these new friendships, if handled properly, you can build sincere relationships with and find lots of new customers and even recruits.
The best way to succeed at networking is to make a plan, commit to it, learn networking skills and execute your plan. We’ll talk about some ideas about how to do that.
We’ll talk about how to network effectively. Typically, ineffective networkers attend several networking groups but visit with the same friends each time. Obviously, this behavior kind of defeats the entire purpose of networking. So we’ll discuss some ways to overcome this.
And we’ll go into some networking tips:
• Set a goal to meet five new people at each event.
• Try one or two new groups per month.
• If it’s a dinner or luncheon, don’t make a beeline for your seat.
• And speaking of meals… Don’t sit with people you already know.
• Be friendly and approachable.
We’ll talk about forgetting about recruiting in networking groups. Yes, recruiting is your business, but not here. This is where you want to focus on what you have to offer, and your product or service.
And we’ll talk about other types of groups that are more structured, such as BNI or LeTip and how to get the most out of these types of groups.
