Are You Afraid To Pick Up The Phone?
As you’re making calls, many people will not be all that enthusiastic to hear from you. This can make you afraid of the phone. If you know that before you start making calls, you can prepare yourself for the rejection.
Keep in mind that nobody can hurt you over the phone. Keep a mirror in front of you and watch your face as you speak. Remember to smile – that’s what will come through in your voice!
Be the person who talks the least. Ask your prospect questions and then stop talking and let them talk. The more they talk the better!
Don’t be in a hurry to hang up the phone. If they’re not interested, be sure to ask for referrals. You should be the last person to hang up the phone.
We need to put our fears into proper perspective.
The truth is we’re not really afraid of the phone. What we’re afraid of is that somebody might actually say no to us.
Truthfully, if you can’t overcome this fear of rejection, you’ll never succeed in a sales type of business.
We have to learn to be able to put ourselves out there and take the risk.
It’s not about you.
Many times, we personalize the outcome, but vary rarely is it about us. And even if it is, so what? We most likely don’t know this person and will never see them again.
There are lots of people out there willing and ready to say yes to you because they like you, they love you, and they respect you.
Think about all of the people that you have helped serve. All the clients, all the friends or family or the sphere of influence that you have helped. Think about how happy they are!
These are the people that you want to work with.
If someone says no to you, they probably aren’t the right person any way. It’s not personal.
Divorce yourself from that outcome to that ultimately if you get a no, it’s no big deal. You’ve got all these other people who are waiting for you to call them so they can say yes to your service.
Consistent Action is what will get you through your fear.
Keep at it, and before you know it the phone will no longer scare you. Feel the fear and do it anyway.
Every day your fear will be less and less.
