Even in cyberspace, tone is an important ingredient to engage your readers. If you have a conversational style, your site will attract more readers and before you know it, you’ll find your website jam-packed with new and frequent visitors.
Here are some tips to help you write in a conversational style:
Write the way you speak –
Readers pay more attention to articles written in a conversational tone. Write as though you are talking to someone using your natural speech. The more naturally you write, the better the experience for everyone involved.
Be professional with your writing –
Even though you’re writing conversationally, you’ll still want to obey grammar, punctuation and capitalization rules. Conversational writing will capture people’s attention, but typographical and grammar errors can turn them off.
Read over what you’ve written –
Read it out loud to test the conversational tone of the article. Or you can read it to someone else to see how it sounds. Once you’re comfortable with what you’ve written you’re good to go.
Make it easy to read –
Avoid difficult words that you wouldn’t use in a conversation with someone. Keep your reader in mind while writing.
Also, split your blog posts into small paragraphs. This will make it easier to read and to understand your thoughts.
Use humor in your writing –
Humor, in moderation, can help you connect with your audience in a more personal way. Let yourself play around, experiment and enjoy the process of letting your voice out in your writing. You never know what — or who — you may discover along the way.
Picture talking with someone as you’re writing your post –
Write as if you’re talking to that person. Use the word “you” when referring to your reader helps them feel that you are indeed talking to them personally.
Maintaining a conversational tone with your article helps build relationships with your readers. As your relationship builds, so does their loyalty, and they will keep coming back to read more.

p.s. Aren’t sure how to say something in a conversational way? Pretend you’re talking to your best friend. Then say what you want to say out loud. Now, write it that way. It really is as simple as that.
