Brand YOU First
To become a top earner in MLM or Network Marketing, it is important that you brand YOURSELF first and the products and services that you represent second.
Network Marketing is a relationship business more than a sales business. People join your business because of YOU, not necessarily your company.
Product names can evoke certain emotions and can represent a variety of core values. For example, Volvo has entire brand built around safety, whereas Mercedes has a brand centered around hand crafted precision and luxury. When you see the name Rolex or see a Rolex watch on someone’s wrist, Rolex is hoping you will think about a certain level of success, accomplishment and prestige.
The question is what emotions and core values do YOU want to evoke as a brand? This is where you will want to focus your attention during the early states of launching yourself as a top income earner in the profession with YOU as the brand.
The first thing you’ll want to do is to buy a domain name that is your name. Sometimes you will not be able to find your exact name because someone else has already purchased it so you will need to think out of the box to buy one that is close to your name. Domain names are still very inexpensive.
If you find your name available, I suggest purchasing that domain immediately before someone else registers it for themself. Even if you are not using it right away, it’s a great start and you protect yourself from having someone Googling your name and finding a not so great website attached to your brand.
Create a blog under your name, and work on providing value to your followers. Provide them with tools and information that will help them flourish in their own business.
Whenever you find great content, share it with your followers. Weave in some updates about the successes that some of the average people in your business are having. But rather than selling, concentrate on helping people solve their problems, and even helping them be successful in whatever business they are in while asking nothing in return. This is what will help build trust.
Telling your story on your blog will help build followers and relationships with people. It should include the following information:
Who you are and what you do/did.
Why you wanted a home-based business.
How you found this business.
Why you ultimately decided to join.
Be honest with people about both your successes and failures. People typically want to go into business with someone who has more knowledge and skills than they do. But more importantly they want to join someone they can relate to. So be honest about your story and really tell it like it is. Most likely, no matter how successful you are now, your first few years were probably just as challenging as anyone’s
Also, people want to do business with people who are either like them, or people they aspire to be like, so fine-tune your story in such a way that it attracts the type of person who you want to attract into your business.
As time goes by, you will brand yourself as a leader and as a giver. As you get more and more known through your branded image, you will have more and more people contacting you about joining your business. You become the hunted rather than the hunter and that is a great place to be.
