Build Your Business With Urgency
It is important that you set your mental attitude to “I need to build this business NOW!”
Too many people start their business, and yet never quite get started. But to achieve the success you desire, immediate action is crucial – TODAY!
Here are some steps you can take to create a sense of urgency in your business:
Build your success story in your first 30 days.
One of the challenging things about starting your own business is you don’t have a success story to share because you’re just getting started yourself. But it would be so impressive if you could tell someone, “in my first 30 days, I made this much money”, or “this is what I accomplished in my first 30 days.”
The story you create in your first 30 days can make a huge difference in your business success, because it will help set the standard for your new people and will help them duplicate your success.
Your people will do what you do. If you don’t get started right away, neither will they. You set the pace for your entire team. So be sure that you’re moving with a sense of urgency, because if you are, they will too.
Set Goals
Figure out what you want to accomplish in the next 30/60/90 days, or even within the next year. Choose goals that include your whole family, and goals that you will have to stretch to accomplish.
I write my goals every month on a write on board above my desk. I write the number of people I want to sponsor, how many new customers I want to get and the dollar amount I want to earn. I set my goals high, because I figure that even if I don’t reach them, I will accomplish way more than I would have without them.
Let Go of the All or Nothing mentality that so many of us have.
Beware of what you’re saying to yourself. If you find yourself saying things like:
“I only have a few minutes so I shouldn’t call any leads”. WHAT? Make ONE phone call and congratulate yourself for taking action. You never know who might be on the other end of the phone and what they might go on to build.
“I work full time and it’s easier for those who don’t”. Not true. Everyone has their own challenges, and truth be told, I found it easier to build my business while I was working even though I was putting in 60-70 hours/week. While doing my job, I was out in the market more and had more opportunities to meet people. Also, since my available time to work my business was more limited, I actually did a better job or prioritizing my time. 🙂
“Only the ones who got in early reach the top”. The beginning is not necessarily the best time to get in to a company.” In most companies, many of the top income earners come in after the company is solid and established, 5 years or more later.
TODAY is the day to create your future so you have so much more of it to look forward to. So, what steps can you do to make a difference today? Will you make just ONE phone call? Pass out ONE business card? Ask ONE person about a Home Party? Private Business Reception? Conference Call? Suggest your products?
Begin taking YOUR first steps in your exciting personal journey so you can be there for the moments you hold priceless! It is not always EASY, but it is SO WORTH IT!
