Don’t Make These Team Building Mistakes!If you’re in an MLM / Network Marketing home business, team building is critical to your long-term success.

Your team is made up of human beings, just like you and me.  It’s important to keep that in mind as you’re growing your team.  And although persuasion is a necessary ingredient to team building, it’s important to keep everyone’s feelings in mind.

Here are some mistakes you’ll want to avoid:

Assuming that Everyone is Equal –

Everyone on your team has different skills, temperaments and learning curves.  You can’t assume everyone is the same and if you do, you’ll hurt your long-term results.

Having a Preferred Team Member –

It’s important to make sure that you treat everyone equal.  If your team members start to notice that you prefer some people over others, they will be discouraged and unmotivated.

Allowing Cliques to Thrive –

You want everyone to get along and treat each other with respect.  Try to eliminate cliques that will defeat the purpose of the entire team.  It can cause resentment among your team members.

No Clear Cut Vision –

If you don’t have a clear-cut vision for your team you are headed for failure.  As the team leader it is up to you to communicate that vision and the goals that you want achieved by every member of your team.

Not Being Approachable –

If you want to be successful, you must be open and approachable.  Otherwise you won’t get the feedback that you need to help yourself and your team learn and grow.  Being unfriendly or unapproachable will get your business nowhere, fast.

Not Being Willing to Delegate –

I know that sometimes it just seems easier to do it yourself.  But if you’re not delegating, you’re limiting the chance for growth and recognition among your team members.

Not Trusting Your Team Members –

If you approach others with distrust, you’ll always only ever see reasons why you can’t trust them.  You will always see what you’re looking for.  Instead look for the best in your team and they will produce that for you.

Not Giving Recognition –

People love to be recognized and made to feel important.  The more you recognize them, the better they will perform.

Giving No Room for Team Bonding –

Do activities with your team that are outside your business.  Giving them a chance to relax, have fun together and bond will do amazing things for your business.  As your team members get to know and love each other, they will be more willing to hang in there when the going gets tough.

Embarrassing a Team Member in Front of Everyone –

Sometimes your team members will need to be guided or given negative feedback regarding their performance.  This needs to be done in private, and not in front of everyone else.  Make it a point to do this private and professionally.

In order to grow a huge business, you will need to sponsor a lot of team members.  If you just keep in mind that they are people just like you and treat them as such with respect and love, they will stay with you for the long haul.
