It probably doesn’t surprise you that Facebook wants to charge you to reach some of their 1.26 billion users. And unless you’re willing to pay, only a small portion of your fans will see your posts. But the question is which method works best for your business?
Facebook offers two paid methods to reach your target audience:
• Facebook Ads
• Promoted Posts
Both are effective, but which one you should use depends on your goals.
If you’re looking to get more followers, the Facebook Ad can be targeted to appear on the newsfeeds of users who fit the exact profile of who you are looking for, based on factors such as location, age, gender, hobbies, and a lot more.
Promoted Posts go to followers you already have. It appears in their newsfeed higher up with bigger pictures to capture more attention. You also have the option to show up in the feeds of your followers’ Facebook friends. This usually works best when you’re trying to promote a specific post that talks about a product or service.
Keep in mind that both methods require that you have a Business Page. But both methods are inexpensive enough so that you can test either or both without going broke. Try them out and see which works best for you. Facebook will let you control your daily budget, so it’s a pretty safe option to try.

p.s. Sharing photos is still the best way to get interaction. Photos are more visible than sharing a link and take up more space in the newsfeed than any other type of post.
