Getting Your Content Noticed Online
Being in a home business you’re always looking for ways to attract and connect with more people. And getting your content noticed is an important part of finding new people online.
According to HubSpot, “companies that blog get 55% more website visitors and 97% more inbound links to their site than sites that don’t” which makes sense because if someone finds the information in your blog post useful, they are more likely to check out your website for even more information.
In online marketing, it’s all about the content that you serve up. But the challenge is coming up with great content – content that will get you noticed and will get people engaged.
Here are some inexpensive and easy ways to generate content for your social media and blog posts:
Ask your followers what they want to see –
What issues are important to them? Post questions on your timelines or send out a survey. This is a great way to know what your specific readers are looking for, and what types of information will be most helpful to them.
Subscribe to blogs from the major thought leaders in your industry –
Reading what others are posting gives you a feeling for what is important and trending in your industry.
Don’t copy their content, but use it for ideas for topics you can write about. Click on their links, which will lead you to other online sources.
Some great blogs to follow are Seth Godin, Randy Gage, Richard Brooke, Darren Hardy, Hubspot. Google your industry to find popular blogs that will benefit you.
Carry a notebook with you or download an app that allows you to make notes about content ideas –
I have notepads scattered around my house because the best ideas come when you least expect them.
I also have Evernote installed on my computer and smartphone so no matter where I am, I can make a note of an idea that came up.
Being able to make note of ideas as you receive them is key to having them ready to expand on at a later time.
Voice Memo is a great app I use on my iPhone to record a thought when I don’t want to type it in the notes, or while driving. When I get back to my desk I can playback the recordings and either start writing, or enter them into Evernote.
Head on over to Pinterest –
Spend ten to fifteen minutes viewing all the fantastic content online at Pinterest. Regardless of what you want to write about, I bet you’ll find plenty of interesting, engaging, and informative pins to use.
Each pin is linked to either a blog, website, or other information.
Pinterest will kick-start your creativity in no time, and it’s fun to browse. Just don’t let yourself get sucked in too far. 🙂
Solve your readers’ problems –
Know your audience and what they stress about. Freely give advice and weave personal stories into your posts.
Remember stories sell, but facts only tell.
Your readers want to know you. Give some stories about your successes, as well as your failures.
It will get easier with time and with experience. Keep writing every day, growing your content, and building relationships with your readers.
