Truth is, after you’ve written your last blog post, most of your readers won’t even know there’s a new post to read.
You need to do what you can to help it go viral to get more eyeballs on your post.
There’s no secret sauce to make every post a hit. However, there are plenty of things you can do to increase your chances:
Be sure to optimize your blog posts with keywords – Google Adwords has a free keyword tool to help you identify the words that are being searched for and then you can apply those keywords to your content.
Share your blog posts on all social media sites – be sure to include Facebook, Google+, Twitter, Pinterest, Linked In, and any others out there. The more the better!
Shorten your Post URLs – Try to keep them short, or use a service such as Bit.ly or Ow.ly to shorten your blog URL when sharing on social media platforms. This will also help you keep track of your posts, and even give you some insights as to how many people clicked on them.
Tailor Your Headlines – Tailor your title or headlines for each community that you share your content with. You may need to post multiple times on different days in order to be successful.
Play with Teasers – Write compelling social media posts or questions to create buzz around your blog post. Ask readers to provide feedback to get a discussion going.
Bookmark your content – Use social bookmarking sites such as Reddit, and StumbleUpon to promote your blog post. There are many out there. Do a google search for social bookmarking sites and you’ll find all kinds of places to bookmark your content.
Superpower your Posts – Share your blog content with people who are searching for answers related to your topic. Yahoo Answers and Quora are the best places to find these types of people.
Comment on other blogs – Provide helpful and meaningful comments on other blogs to expand your blog’s reach. Be sure to include a link to your latest blog post, or a related post that corresponds with the subject matter of the post you’re commenting on.
Email signature – Your email signature is a great place to link to your blog and social media links. This will automatically go out with every email you send and may generate some interest.
Broadcast messages – Be sure to send a broadcast message to your list of followrs if your blog doesn’t already automatically do that.
E-Newsletter – If you send a newsletter, be sure to include links to your blog posts.
Ask other bloggers – Ask other bloggers in your industry to share your link in their blog posts.
The more places your post goes the more eyes you’ll find. You will quickly see what is really working

p.s. Get share buttons on your site. People are mainly bouncing in to read and leave, so anything you can do to make it “sticky” without being a hassle works. Make it possible to share your post with as few clicks as possible.
