Think of something might be bothering you right now. It might be a problem, or it might be money, or somebody said something, or the economy… or whatever it is that you have on your mind right now.
Eleanor Roosevelt was the wife of the President of the United States in the1930’s and 1940s. She was a very, very bright woman, but not a pretty woman. She was tall and gangly, and the press had a field day making fun of her. The press would just tear her apart repeatedly.
So how did Eleanor Roosevelt deal with something that bothered her? She sure didn’t like reading all those nasty things about her, or having her ideas trashed, or her ideas laughed at. And she had some great ideas for the League of Nations, and for Human Rights, and there were so many other things she cared about.
But she had a phrase, which I love. She would say…
“All the water in the world cannot drown me unless it gets inside of me.”
So she would let all those comments, all those concerns, all of those things be around her, but she chose not to pay attention to them.
So what thought can you use that would be your life raft thought?
We all have things that we’re concerned about. Things that might be bothering us… things that somebody said about our business… or whatever it is…
You and I can learn to build Life Raft Thoughts.
So today I want to encourage you to create at least one life raft thought, which means that when you think that thought you remember that you are bigger than the problem.
So for Eleanor Roosevelt it was, “All the water in the world can’t drown me unless it gets inside of me.” And she would take her attention and put it back on what she was doing with her day, that would further the goals and the dreams she had.
I don’t know what might be bothering you, and in our business there can be a lot of negative, but I do know this… you are bigger than that when you find that part of yourself. That part of yourself is hooked to an idea that is your life raft thought.
So write at least one life raft thought and work with it today!
