Don’t Have Time to Start Your Business?
With the economy being what it is today, more and more people are starting a home business alongside their full-time day job. I was one of them.
Today we’re going to discuss two issues – 1) you not having enough time to work your business, and 2) your prospect thinking they don’t have the time to start a business.
When I started my home business, I was working 60-70 hours per week in my day job and commuting an average of three hours per day. I definitely did NOT have the time to start a business, but I also knew that if I didn’t find a way to make a change, my life would never change. So I found ways to build my business on what little spare time I had.
I have to admit it wasn’t easy in the beginning. My job expected my 100% full attention while I was there. How can you stay on top of calls, emails and orders for your business when you’re at work all day?
I found time management skills to be crucial. Finding a half hour before work to make calls, and using my lunch break to make calls or schedule presentations was very helpful. Many nights I wasn’t home from work until 8:00 or 9:00pm, but I scheduled what I could at that time, and I definitely made the most of the few days I had off. My husband and I jokingly said instead of the power of three new contacts per day, we made 300 contacts over the weekend.
Another tip is to make use of pockets of time. It may be really hard to find a whole hour time slot to work your business, but if you only have 10 or 15 minutes, you could make 2-3 calls. It’s amazing what you can accomplish in small pockets of time with a little focus and time management.
Commute time became learning time for me. I really started enjoying my commute when I could learn more about how to build my business, or how to set my mindset for success.
Finding the time to build your business is totally possible if your why is big enough. If you want something bad enough, you will do what it takes to make it happen. And giving up some things that are taking your time now will pay off handsomely in the near future.
One great thing about our business is that it is designed to be worked part-time – working 10-20 hours per week. There’s no reason to give up your day job anytime in the near future. Over time your efforts begin to compound through the efforts of others doing the same. And within 1 to 5 years, most committed people will be able to replace their current income.
Sometimes as we’re out there talking to people about our business and our opportunity, we hear “I don’t have time to start a business now.”
For some people this is a real situation, and we can help them by sharing some tips on how they can fit this into their lifestyle to reap the benefits of having their own business.
But for many, this answer doesn’t mean what they’re really saying.
Usually it means one of the following:
1. I don’t believe in the product.
2. I don’t think I can make money.
3. I don’t think I can do it.
The truth is… 85% of everyone you meet is looking for one or two things: More time or more money…. And there’s a good chance that person needs both.
So why did they just tell you they were too busy?
Well usually it has to do with one of the three reasons above.
What I find helpful is to just ask them flat out, “So if you were not busy, what would stop you from promoting this opportunity?”
Once you get them to start talking, you’ll be able to get to the root of the problem to find out what it is that they want in their life, and what it is that is holding them back.
Don’t worry about trying to sell them on your products or your opportunity. Worry instead of coming from your heart and looking for ways to help them. Our business model is not about SALES. It’s about RELATIONSHIPS and SYSTEMS. Yes, products do get sold, but not through conventional sales. SYSTEMS like websites, webinars, videos, video emails, interactive emails, LOTS of testimonials, etc. are how you sell and recruit online.
Work instead to build that relationship with them, help them to solve their problem, and get them into your system so that you can continue to build on that relationship. In our profession, TIMING is everything. When the TIMING is right, that person who was once a NO, may switch to a YES! And when they know you, like you and trust you, they will find a way to make the time to build their business with you.
If you are looking for a system to help you take control of the “I don’t have time” question. Then watch the video below and see the system I use to answer that question.
…fill out the form below, and follow the simple steps. It’s working for me, and thousands of others out there online.
And, if you already have a business you’re happy with, I will still cheer you on!
