Prospecting to Grow Your Business

Prospecting to Grow Your Business Prospecting is the lifeblood of our business.

Many network marketers dread the thought of prospecting for their business because they think it’s difficult.

Having a fear of prospecting can cause you to procrastinate to avoid the pain of talking to prospects and possibly facing rejection.   But you got into network marketing to build a residual income, right?  The only way you can do that is by sponsoring new blood into your team. We can say without a doubt that you won’t ever build any sort of residual income if you don’t get over the fear of prospecting.

Just selling products on the front end will earn you some income, but it won’t do anything for building passive wealth. Being a sales person limits your income and doesn’t give you the residual benefits that you can get with our business.  Sales alone will never give you that walk-away income.  If you slow down, your sales will slow down too.

In order to be successful in Network Marketing, there are three activities you should spend the bulk of your time on:  1) prospecting for people to talk to that might be interested, 2) presenting your opportunity to them, and 3) following up with those you presented your opportunity to.

Prospecting is the first activity that gets your business moving faster than anything else.

Being successful in your business requires that you always have people to connect with, and then you can look for ways to help them.  There are lots of ways to meet people: face-to-face, referrals, and even online.

Marketing your business online is a great way to fill your funnel with prospects, but be careful that you don’t get caught up in trying to be an internet expert and all the back-end work to get that setup, while missing out on all the people you can prospect off line.  It is understood that there is always busy work that needs to be done, but schedule those types of activities during the off-prime time such as in the evening when it’s not a good time to prospect.  Even with those you meet online, spend your time connecting (in person or on the phone) with them just as though you met them offline.

Only by giving most of your time over to these activities are you really going to reap the rewards that you want in your business.

So is there a secret to recruiting lots of folks into your business?  Not really – the key is simply to get a lot of people watching your presentations and that really is about it.  Then, keep in mind that not every person who watches your presentation will want to join you.  That’s OK.  Just spend your time getting people to the presentation.  Then they will let you know if they are interested.

Here are some tips to help you when prospecting:

Build a list of prospects, whether they are inside or outside your warm market, and find a way to add to your list every day. This can also be achieved using the internet.  I personally use the internet as one prospecting method in my business.  I set up a marketing sales funnel, drive traffic to it and also my personal blog, and people opt in to my websites and then the relationship building process can begin.

Deliver presentations to as many people as possible on a daily basis. Your company should already have this setup for you.  Some companies have presentations setup online for you, some are done in small home parties, or face-to-face.

Do your own presentations. This is one of the most effective ways to attract prospects to join your business, doing your own presentations positions YOU as the leader that people are looking for.  If you’re not ready to do them yourself yet, work with your upline until you are ready to go off on your own.  Remember, the sooner you step up as the leader, the sooner you will become one!

It would be nice to have people automatically sign up into your business, but it very rarely happens that way.  Most of the time you need to personally connect with your prospect and this will mean calling them or even meeting them in person.   People join those who they know, like and trust.  Build a relationship with them.  This is where the real sponsoring takes place.

Overcome the fear of talking to prospects and start prospecting.  You will then start recruiting and building the business that you want.  It really is as simple as that.
