Upcoming Social Media Trends

Upcoming Social Media Trends Social Media is here to stay.  Sites such as Facebook have given a whole new perspective to the internet.

But there are new upcoming trends that I believe will increase the importance of social media, especially for your business.

Videos –

A picture alone is quickly becoming not enough.  Videos are becoming a more and more important way to attract and communicate with your potential clients.  Of course you’ll want to be on YouTube, but be sure to also make use of different platforms such as Instagram’s 15-second videos or Twitter’s Vine app that also help you create wonderful videos to share on online.  These are just two more social media sites that will help you spread the word about you business.

Google Plus –

Facebook is still the top Social Media site on the internet, but Google Plus is rapidly growing.  One advantage Google Plus has is that it is owned by Google, the highest search engine in the world.  Google Plus is expected to be integrated with the search engine in the near future, meaning that Google Plus will not only be a great Social Media site to help you promote your business, it will also be a wonderful tool in the search engine optimization (SEO) perspective.  Google Plus will help your website feature among the top in the Google search results for your keywords.

Content Marketing –

Content marketing has been a favorite strategy for many businesses around the world and will continue as such.  But there are some changes you’ll want to be aware of.  In order to reap the most rewards now, you’ll want to use content that is relevant to the social media channels you are using.  This is where you are going to reap the most benefits.  Context is going to be the main objective.  Using contextual content is expected to be of prime importance across social media in the near future.

Facebook Will Continue to be Very Important –

Facebook will continue to be one of the most important social media platforms in the coming years.  It is probably one of the most powerful digital platforms to have ever emerged and will continue to be so.  More and more businesses are expected to go for Facebook’s paid advertisement in order to reach more audience.  There is still lots of room to grow and businesses are finding their advertising to be reasonable.

Linked in will become More Important –

Linked in gives you the opportunity to explore the professional world with a personal touch.  It is rapidly gaining traction in the social media world.  While it can be one of the best places to look for job opportunities, it can also be a great place to connect with other professionals.  Therefore, Linked In’s importance is expected to increase significantly.

Social Media on Mobile Devices will Continue to Grow

Fifty percent of average global mobile web users now use mobile as either their primary or exclusive means of going online. Users of Android and iOS phones are spending almost a quarter of their total device time on social networking — 18 percent on Facebook and another six percent on other social networking platforms.  If you haven’t already, you’ll want to make sure you content works well with mobile as well as computer users.

Social media has definitely found a strong footing on the online world.  It has become extremely popular with people from all over the world.  Social Media is being used for everything, whether for business or personal connections.

It’s hard for most of us to even remember a day before we had social media.  I expect that it will be around for a long time to come.  If you’re not in the social media game, now is the time to get in and get your feet wet.
