In 2009 Simon Sinek wrote a book called Start with Why: How Great Leaders Inspire Everyone to Take Action. Within a few years that book, and the concept behind it, literally swept across the world. Simon Sinek is now considered one of the preeminent thinkers both on leadership strategy and passionate work around the world.
“The goal is not to do business with everybody who needs what you have. The goal is to do business with people who believe what you believe.” ~Simon Sinek
Today I’d like to share the famous TED talk video from Simon Sinek on exactly this subject.
In my opinion it is one of the best TED talks (for businesses, start-up’s and entrepreneurs) that I’ve ever heard. It’s well worth taking the 18 minutes to watch. It basically explains…
“People don’t buy WHAT you do, they buy WHY you do it”.
Great leaders, like great business people – inspire people to do things. They tell the world what they believe (not what they are selling), and as a result they attract incredibly loyal fans, followers and consumers that believe the same things.
This works because people make big decisions with their hearts, and then justify it with their heads. Social media is no different; people share emotions, not facts. They share with their hearts, not with their heads. This short video explains that much better than I could. Enjoy! 🙂
