Success is Being Willing to do Whatever it Takes

Success is Being Willing to do Whatever it Takes Did you think that having your own home business would be a ‘walk in the park’?  Do you find yourself looking at others who have their own business and wondering why you aren’t doing as well as they are?  You are not alone, especially for those who are new to the business world.

There is really only ONE secret to success, and that is to be willing to do whatever it takes.  Here are some ideas to help you grow your business, make money and have fun doing it:

Do you really have a business? –

Or is it just a hobby?  Having a business is serious.  This means you want to be setup as a business.  Some of the things you’ll need are a business name, a business bank account and credit card (separate from your personal ones).  Depending on your type of business, you might also need a business phone line, a business license, a way to process credit card payments, etc.  Are you willing to take the time to get yourself setup in such a way that you can serve your clients in a professional manner?

Have you blocked out the time in your calendar? –

Are you really ‘open’ for business, or are you spending your time running errands, doing laundry, or phoning friends?  Figure out how many hours per week that you can allot to your business, and be committed to that time.  It is imperative that you block time in your calendar for the times you will be working.

Do you have a support team in place? –

Start thinking about what you are doing that would be better off having someone else to do.  Be prepared to delegate.  Think about hiring a part time assistant, or trading time for babysitting, or using a family member… whatever it takes to get that help.

It makes no sense for you to be spending your time on non money-making activities such as filing, administrative work and such.  Get someone to help you with these.

Are you willing to do whatever it takes? –

This can mean lots of things… anything from working long, crazy hours at times, to making the investment for personal and professional development, to leaving some people behind because you have outgrown them.  It can mean being criticized and even laughed at by people, particularly those who have given up on their own dreams.  You will make mistakes, and need to be prepared for that and ready to learn from them and get right back into the game.  It can mean making sacrifices to move forward.  It can mean travel time to attend events to increase your knowledge and skills… and more.

Some people really aren’t cut out for having their home business.  They need the structure, accountability, and the paycheck that comes with a job.

But if you’ve dared to step out and do your own thing… know that it can be scary, lonely, and risky.  But it will also be challenging, rewarding, exciting, profitable, and a sheer joy!  There’s no better feeling than the freedom (financial and time) that having your own home business provides.

Are you willing to do what it takes?
