The Internet is the easiest and least expensive way to start a new business today. The entry costs are low – you can create a website for very little, and you are up and running!
The Internet can also give you the financial freedom, as well as the time freedom you are looking for. But the low cost also guarantees lots of competition.
So here are some tips to help you increase your chances for massive success online:
Your name and branding are extremely important –
When marketing online, it is vital that you have consistency between your domain name and your brand. You’ll also want to be sure to have that same consistency with your brand and social media such as Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and more. Spend some time to find that perfect domain name to match your business name that you can brand everywhere online.
Content is king –
Your blog will become your hub in the Internet sphere. It is critical that you have more and better content than anyone else out there. You’ll want to mix it up and include text, graphics, sound and video. Having the best content is what will get people’s attention and increase momentum.
Marketing takes time, and sometimes money to be effective –
Be prepared to spend a large part of your time marketing your blog posts. You’ll want to syndicate your blog posts all over the Internet. This can be done manually, or you can pay for online advertising or services to do the work for you.
You want the search engines to know you –
Search engines are still the best way to be “found” online. When someone is looking for something, the first thing they do is go to Google (or some other search engine). You’ll want your website to be optimized for search engines to make your content easily available to them. Figure out which key words your audience will likely be searching for and make sure the include those in your blog posts. Advertising on Google can help increase your reach as well.
Take advantage of Social Media –
Of course you’ll want to work to build a presence on the main Social Media sites such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Google+ and YouTube. But you’ll also want to make sharing your content on social media easy as well. Include social sharing buttons on your blog, as well as other tools to make it easy to bookmark, email, share, comment, etc. on your blog.
Build your list –
Collect email addresses and build a list. This is probably the most important asset in your business. Ask your visitors to sign up for your newsletter when they come to your blog. Give them an incentive to do so such as a free report or free e-course on a topic related to your business. Make sure to put quality content in your newsletter and give your subscribers an easy way to opt out. Work to build a relationship with everyone on your list. It’s the relationships that will make the difference.
Paid Advertising –
Online advertising is when you pay for ads such as pay-per-click ads, banner ads, rich media ads, newsletter ads, etc. If you decide to do this, be sure that it will be reaching your intended audience.
These are all ideas to help get your online business off the ground and started quickly. Be sure to start with a solid plan. Define your goals, and outline the steps required and how you’re going to measure success. Go back to your plan every month to reevaluate and adjust as necessary.
Just because your startup costs were low, don’t expect instant or easy success. Building a business takes time, effort, and a little imagination. Being committed to your business, with a “nothing will stop me” attitude will make all the difference between wild success and failure in your new business.
