The Real Reason Why We Strive for More
As humans, we have always been on a quest for more. Take a look at the history of the world.
You won’t find an invention or breakthrough that didn’t first have a strong “Why!” We all need motivation to keep moving forward.
Your WHY gives you the power to push through the tough times and the motivation to dig deep when nothing seems to be going your way.
The story goes that when Henry Ford first came up with the idea for his V-8 motor, he wanted the engine to have all eight cylinders cast in one block. I don’t really know what that means but apparently it is a tall order because his engineers thought he was out of his mind. He told them to do it anyway. They tried, but came back and told him it was impossible.
Well Ford told them to keep at it, no matter how long it took. So there were many battles between Ford and his engineers over the next year or so, but eventually they discovered how to make his eight cylinder engine block.
Michael Jordan was cut from his high school basketball team for lack of skill.
Steven Spielberg, a high school dropout, was rejected from film school three times.
Thomas Edison, who was dubbed too stupid to learn anything by a teacher, tried more than nine thousand experiments before successfully creating the light bulb
Beethoven’s music teacher told him he was talentless, and more specifically, was hopeless at composing.
Even today most of us strive for something better in life.
But there is a growing problem. Most of society these days are taught while they are still young that to get ahead in life you have to:
• Get a degree at college
• Land your dream job where you get to sit in a cubicle for 40 to 60 hours a week
• Fight traffic for 90 minutes a day getting to that dream job
• Worry about lay-offs, cut-backs and office politics
• After 40 years you get to retire and hopefully live off a fixed income in your glory years.
Now, I’m not knocking jobs. For some people this is the ideal situation for them. Many people are very happy at what they do and have no desire for anything else, and that’s totally OK.
But the TRUTH is that 85% of everyone walking around you wants one of two things:
1. More Time
2. More Money
Usually they want both.
You see, something happens to people when they reach 40 years old. They start wondering if this is it! When they started out 20 years earlier, they had bigger dreams and bigger ambitions… But LIFE got in the way and without realizing it, they ended up just “Settling” for things.
So if 85% of everyone want’s more time and money… why aren’t they doing something about it?
Actually a lot of them are. In fact millions of people every day go on the Internet and Type in “Work At Home Jobs”
What’s their motivation?
They have a burning “Why!
You see, they want more money to get ahead in life or want to spend more time with loved ones instead of working to death and one day waking up and realizing that they missed out on a big part of life.
Your “Why” is the reason you take action. It’s the driving reason for most successful people.
