What it Takes to Effectively Market Yourself Online
If you’re in MLM or Network Marketing, you have two brands – you and your product. Many Network Marketing companies have very strict rules about their brand.
Instead, I recommend building yourself as your brand. Then it becomes about the relationships you’ve built rather than the product. This makes you the focus; and if down the road you change companies or direction, your brand will remain intact.
One of the first things I would suggest when you’re beginning to build your brand is to purchase your name as a domain. I use GoDaddy. Having your own domain name makes it easier for people to find you online. Domain names are inexpensive and vital for branding.
Be sure you’re on the Social Media sites. Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, and Linked-In are the most popular sites currently, but many more are popping up all the time. These sites are great for branding and marketing. If you want to be found online, you need to be where people are online.
You need a central location, also called a hub, to direct everything to. I would recommend this to be your blog, and having your blog domain as your own name is a perfect way to set it up. Mine is http://LynnHuber.com if you’d like to see how I do it. It’s important to constantly update your blog to keep it fresh. The more current the information is, the more people will want to read it, and the better it will recognized by search engines.
Some of the tools you’ll need to market yourself online are your blog, a lead capture page, an autoresponder, a webinar service and more. Over the next couple of posts, I’m going to be talking about each of these; how you can use them and how they will help you market your business.

p.s. Want to know the difference between networking online vs. in person? Online you can be in your bathrobe and slippers and no one will know the difference. Lead with helpful information, don’t lead with your product or opportunity. Be helpful. You’d never go to a live networking event, walk up to a group of people and say: “Hi, buy my stuff.” You shouldn’t do it online, either.
